Before booking in to record please read the following:
1. My goal is to capture the best possible performance from your band so that we can achieve a great sounding end-product that we can all be proud of. This requires you to be well-rehearsed. Please make sure to be fluent in your performances before coming in to the studio as this will not only make the recording process more enjoyable, but it will also save you money on studio time. Practicing to a click track will work wonders.
2. This goes without saying, but please be on time for your sessions. Nobody wants to be waiting around for that days vital band member showing up late because they hit the snooze button one too many times. Coffee will be flowing at the studio for those who, like myself, are not morning people, so fight the urge and get out of bed. It will be worth it.
3. I understand that whilst recording many people like to have a beer (or ten), which is fine, but please wait until you have completed your parts. Alternatively, know your limits. I am not responsible for fixing bad takes due to someone being a tad too merry in the studio.
4. Please try to replace guitar strings, drum heads, etc. before coming into the studio to record. This is very important. Also try and break your strings / drum heads in the night before in order to keep tuning intact and save time. One rehearsal should do the job.
5. If you have demo tracks available, please send them to me as soon as possible. Recording demo tracks before coming in to the studio will give you a good idea of how your songs will sound once recorded and will allow more time for the magic to happen. There are many programs (such as GarageBand or Reaper) which will allow you to record demos without having to splash out on an already expensive hobby.
6. Finally, have fun in the studio! I love getting to work with great bands and its even better when everyone is having a good time.
